    Our Traditional Toddler Bed offers an ideal transition for the toddler who is ready to leave the crib. Safety dictates our design: the bed is low to the ground and features effective roll-out protection on all four sides. Toddlers always love this special bed since it is their own size and can accommodate their standard crib mattress and bedding. Quick and simple assembly also makes this bed easy to store when not in use.

    The Traditional Toddler Bed pairs well with the Traditional Bookcase and the Toddler Bedside Stand.

    Features and Specifications of Our Traditional Toddler Bed

    • 53″L x 29 1/2″W x 17 1/2″H
    • Weight: Knotty Pine construction – approximately 47lbs, MDF construction – approximately 58lbs, Birch construction – approximately 50lbs.
    • Recommended for ages 18 months to four years.
    • Knotty Pine construction throughout when ordered in Unfinished, Natural, Honey Oak, or Espresso. When ordered in Pink, Lavender, White, Gray or Linen, the box will be made of MDF for a smoother finish.
    • Available in Birch in Natural and Unfinished.
    • Assembly required.

    Materials and Finish

    • CARB 2 compliant birch plywood when ordered in Natural or Unfinished birch.
    • All finishes are water-based paints and stains so that our furniture is non-toxic and safe for children. There may be an odor when first unpacked but will dissipate more rapidly with warmer temperatures and air movement.
    • Please note, all unfinished products are meant to be finished with stain, sealer or paint before use. Visit our page on working with unfinished toddler furniture to learn more.
    • All products are made to order and typically take 3-5 business days to ship.
    • Since we manufacture all Little Colorado products in our own facility, they start out as unfinished raw wood, MDF or birch. We can offer every piece unfinished at lower prices if you would prefer to stain or paint it yourself.

    • What are the dimensions of the footboard?

      The dimensions of the footboard are 29 1/2″ x 17 1/2″.

    • What are the dimensions of the headboard?

      The headboard is 29 1/2″ x 21″

    • What’s the height of the side panels?

      The side panels are 9″ high.

    • How much room is there under the bed?

      There is 7 1/2″ from the bottom of the bed to the floor.

    • Hi, can you paint the natural knotty pine right when you get it? Or do you have to do something to it to prime it? Iā€™m nervous to get the unfinished knotty pine because I might not get around to painting. Thanks.

    • Is any glue used in the unfinished knotty pine bed? If so, is it formaldehyde-free?

      Yes, all of our products are formaldehyde-free.

    • How many inches are the side panels once the mattress is on the bed?

      It really depends on the thickness of the mattress, but we would estimate something around 4-6in.

    • Is the unfinished knotty pine plywood?

      You can order an unfinished version of the bed in either Pine or Birch.

    • What type of finish is used for the pine option? Is it Greenguard certified? Water based? Low VOC?

      We use water based low VOC finishes on all our products.

    • Does it have flame retardants? Or any heavy metals?

      No it doesn’t

    • Hi, can you get slats for the toddler bed instead? I have a latex mattress and it needs to breathe. If not, do you have suggestions to where I can get some, and do you sell the frame without the plywood mattress base? Thanks!

      Our Traditional Toddler Bed comes with 3 slats for the mattress supports. It isn’t one sheet.

      Please keep in mind that depending on the grain of the wood, it could look pretty close to black. Hope this helps.

    • What is the maximum load of the bed? Can I sit on the bed together with my child? Thanks

      Yes you can. Up to 200 lbs.

    • What is the mattress support for this toddler bed? Is there a slat options? My mattress requires slats. Thank you!

      It comes with three slats go along the bottom where the mattress would sit.

    • Our daughter has a habit of gnawing on the side of the bed, so it’s important for us to know if the wood is “clean” or it has been treated with any chemicals (assuming we buy unfinished). Thank you!

      It is untreated and no chemicals.

    • The materials are listed as raw wood, plywood, or MDF. Can you please clarify the materials used to make the toddler bed? Thank you.

      When ordered in Espresso, Honey Oak, Natural or Unfinished it is made of Pine and the mattress supports are made of Birch.
      When ordered in a solid color it is made of Pine, MDF and the mattress supports are made of Birch.
