Last weekend we caught a video of this stunning butterfly seeking nectar in our backyard.

The slow-mo phone setting lets you witness the wonders of flight, the amazing structure of those gorgeous wings, the near-miss landing on the flower stalk!

We got to thinking about some of our favorite butterfly books:

• For the tiny tots, there’s Eric Carle’s classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar (age 2-5).
• For the older toddler, try Lois Ehlert’s Waiting for Wings (age 4-7), on the life cycle of butterflies.
• And Sam Swope’s Gotta Go! Gotta Go! picture book (age 3-6), explains their drive to migrate with catchy text and drawings.
